This time I’m going to break from the expected and write about ‘Days on an island’. Well, it’s technically two. Despite being mostly destroyed in 2004′s disastrous tsunami it has since been re-born. Popularized by the film ‘The Beach’ starring Leonardo Dicaprio it is frequently visited by day-trippers from Phuket or Krabi, but there is also a tranquil side to Phi Phi with beaches that you’re unlikely to ever forget.

They say ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’. So how much of it can you see in one? Well, in your first day in Roma head to Vatican City to see St Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican Museums. The remainder of the day can be spent seeing the “best of Rome”, one famous sight after the other all in close proximity. On Day 2 take in the Roman history at sites such as the Colosseum and Roman Forum.

Start in Amsterdam’s prettiest district Jordaan. If you’re confident enough, get on a city bike and go exploring. Check out some fantastic museums, like Van Gough, Anne Frank Museum or Rijksmuseum. But one of the best things you can do in Amsterdam is just to wander the picturesque canals and city squares.

The ‘other’ favourite Scandinavian capital. Ok, so maybe it is the favourite for many but that might have something to do with the fact that it’s a little more affordable (just a little). The home of Hans Christian Andersen and most well known for the iconic Little Mermaid, Copenhagen is a beautiful & compact capital perfect for doing a self-guided tour on foot or by bicycle.
